On February 17, 2009, KUAT Channel 6 and KUAS Channel 27 will cease broadcasting over the air in analog, and move solely to digital transmission.
The move to digital will allow us to bring you more of the programming you love, but may require you to change the way you receive television. If you have cable or satellite service, then this transition will not affect you. But, if you have an older analog television that uses rabbit ears or an external antenna, you will need to take action to continue receiving TV service.
The good news is that you will not need to buy a new TV set to receive the new digital broadcasts. You can just purchase a DTV converter box that connects to your old set and lets you watch free over the air Digital TV. To learn more about the conversion, visit our Digital TV transition page.
The federal government has set up a program to offset the cost of the DTV converter boxes that should bring your cost to around $20 per converter.
To learn more about the program, including how to request coupons, redemption instructions, and which retailers will redeem them, visit the coupon program home page, or call 1-888-DTV-2009, toll-free, to request a coupon or to receive coupon program information in English and Spanish
Arizona Public Media values your support. We are here to help you during this transition, so please feel free to contact us at 621-5828 with any questions you may have about DTV.
